OCZ EliteXStream 800-1000w PSU Reviews

Τα Specs για το 1000άρι

To [H]enthusiast έγραψε συγκεκριμένα για το 1000w

The current limiter on both power supplies is the same for the 5V and 3.3V rails. However, the 12V rails also show quite similar limits to our surprise. The 800W EliteXStream can pull a little more than 1000W from its 12V rail alone while the 1000W version can draw almost 1200W from this single rail. All rails combined is a different story however, since the maximum output is around 100W over each PSU's rated output.
.
.
OCZ's new EliteXStream series brings very high quality to the market, and the choice of components was well done.
.
.
If this is what we have to look forward to from the OCZ/PCP&C merger, and if they can hit the price targets, OCZ will begin to exert an even greater influence on the market.

The external build quality of the EliteXStream 1000w is very good but not perfect. While the unit features a very well done flat black finish that is resistant to scratching the sleeving on the cables only comes down to ~2 inches above the first or only connector on each cable leaving the wiring looking a bit sloppy. Once we move to the interior of the unit we immediately notice that the unit features immaculate soldering and construction throughout due to Impervio/OCZʼs Taiwan (not China) based manufacturing partnerʼs use of robotics. There are no sloppy bits of soldering or leaning components to be found anywhere on this units super clean PCB. The capacitor selection for the unit is great on the primary side with Hitachi capacitors filling it out while the secondary is rounded out with lower quality Teapo capacitors. Overall though the unitʼs build quality is excellent and the component selection should prove to be sufficient, though the secondary capacitors could use an upgrade for such an otherwise high-powered unit.
.
.
Test #4 equal to 999w by loading the 12v rail to 80a, the 5v rail to 5a, the 3.3v rail to 3a, the +5vsb to 2a, and the -12v to 0.5a. In the final regular test we have fully loaded the 12v rail to 80A at both 120v and 100v which has resulted once more in only slight increases in the ripple/noise value as it hits ~30mV-35mV. The 3.3v rail trace amplitude has increased to 10mV while the 5v rail finally shows the beginnings of some ripple/noise.
.
.
The OCZ EliteXStream 1000w was from all of our testing results an excellent power supply. The unit exhibited very good voltage regulation, excellent efficiency, was reasonably quiet for a power supply of its capacity, and featured immaculate construction. While there certainly are a few items in the build quality of this unit that could be improved there are very few things we could find issue with when it came down to this units performance. In the end, when we look at all of the factors that we use to evaluate the performance of a power supply the OCZ EliteXStream is quite simply the best 1000w power supply that OCZ, or its subsidiaries, have produced to date and is certainly a stellar option for enthusiasts to consider in their next high end system build.

.... the OCZ EliteXStream is most definitely one of our favourites. Combining excellent performance along with a compact size that ensures even those of us with small cases have enough juice to power a multi-gpu setup, the EliteXStream is without doubt one of the best PSU's OCZ have released to date.
Of course it would be rude to go though this conclusion without mentioning the influence that PC Power & Cooling have had on the EliteXStream. The single 80 amp +12v rail and and high-quality internal components are all typical of PCP&C unit, and the inclusion of a Chroma 8000 ATE test report just goes to show that every unit has been individually hand tested to both OCZ and PCP&C's high standards before leaving the factory.
...However, OCZ have told us that the unit will be retailing in the USA for around $230 and have given us a preliminary figure of £115 for the UK market. If the unit does indeed hit UK stores at anywhere near this price, it is certainly set to cause quite a stir!
The Good
• Compact size ensures that the EliteXStream will fit into almost all cases.
• Extremely stable rails with no over-volting at 0% load.
• High quality components.
• Quiet and cool.
• Single, high-powered +12v rail.
• 5yr warranty with excellent tech support.
• Individually tested with result print-out included.
• Hopefully the price!
The Mediocre
• 82% efficiency is good, but we've seen better.
• Cables not fully sleeved - spoils the look a bit.
The Bad
• Nowt!
